Why do we need a new library?

A 2019 Community Needs & Space Assessment revealed overwhelming support for expanding our library to address the demand for study rooms, collaborative workspaces, and meeting facilities - needs that far exceed our current capacity. We need to build for our future growth as our city is projected to grow by 66.8/% to 21,934 by 2046.

What would a new library offer that the current one doesn’t?

More versatile spaces to expand popular programming, accommodate growing attendance and much-needed gathering spaces for events and collaboration. Improved kids and teen spaces as well as expanded large print collection and modern technology access.

Where will the new library be located?

The location currently under discussion by the city is Town Square. (location of Farmers Market)

What will happen to the current library building?

How is the project being funded ?

As of April 20,2025 the 2025 City Budget has allocated $3,993,228 for the project. This number may change. The city is exploring various funding mechanisms . The library info is on page 99 of the budget. To view the city budget CLICK HERE.

Will there be opportunities for public input and how can I share my perspective?
